Green Revolution of the Bubble Tea Industry: OneCup team up with Southeast Asia’s Largest Tea Brand, Tealive

Mindless consumption of single-use plastics along with the inefficiency of waste collection and recycling have been one of Southeast Asia’s largest environmental problems. It is especially concerning for the marine animals such as the turtles as they sometimes consume floating plastic bags, mistaking them for jellyfish. The increase in plastic debris in the ocean has posed major concerns for the sea creatures.

With the growing number of bubble tea stores opening in Malaysia over the last couple of years, the increase in amount of plastic waste has inevitably increased. As part of our efforts to curb single-use plastics, we, OneCup, have collaborated with Southeast Asia’s largest tea brand, Tealive, to promote the use of reusable bubble tea cups.

We are very grateful to have the opportunity to collaborate with Tealive and spread the awareness about the adverse effects stemming from single-use plastics, in a much larger scale. We believe that through this collaboration, we can help raise public awareness around the issue of plastic pollution and encourage everyone to make this small change for a better earth.
